The world premiere of Salford Everywhere, a monumental living portrait of Salford and its people created by award-winning visual artist and filmmaker Matthew Rosier, his most ambitious project to date.

On 9 & 10 October video artworks featuring over 1500 Salfordians will be projected onto buildings in the city, including the iconic Salford Shopping Centre building in Pendleton. A major free event will take place over both evenings from 6-10pm at Peel Park where Rosier’s 45 minute video installation, shown live twice each night, will be projected at scale onto the University of Salford’s Maxwell Building. The video installation will be accompanied by a live score celebrating the city’s rich musical heritage, featuring local choirs and brass bands, arranged by Michael Betteridge, with music direction by Salford-based composer and DJ, AFRODEUTSCHE.

Live shows will take place at: 7.30pm and 8.45pm each night (9 and 10 October)

All live shows feature: Eccles Borough Band, Pendleton Sixth Form College Choir, Poet Lynn Walton, and the voice of the late Rob Dunford.

Salford Shopping Centre in Pendleton will be illuminated simultaneously each evening (7-10pm) by the 1553 local contributors who feature in the project, silently projected at monumental scale, creating a powerful tribute to the people who make up Salford’s story.

From pigeon fanciers, NHS workers and builders to supermarket teams, school children, chess players, dementia support groups, food bank charity teams, local athletes and Royal Mail staff, Salford Everywhere captures the spirit of the city through the people who make it.

This event was commissioned by Salford City Council as part of Salford 100, celebrating one hundred years of our city. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England. Access

There will be an accessible viewing platform available for anyone with access needs, who would benefit from a dedicated viewing space. The platform offers step-free access with wheelchair spaces and chairs. There will also be a BSL interpreter viewable from this platform.

Please note that this event takes place after dark, so light levels will be low. Amenities will be well lit and a team of volunteers with torches will be on hand to guide you around the park. This event features sound and music, and those sensitive to loud noises are encouraged to bring headphones / ear plugs.

A site map labelled with access platform, toilets, food vendors and other amenities will be available soon. Alcohol will not be served at this event.

Supported Travel

We have arranged a free coach service to reduce any potential barriers (cost, distance) to communities experiencing this event.

On Friday 9th, free spaces are available:
- Irlam (Pick up 6.30pm, leave Peel Park 9.30pm)
- Walkden (Pick up 6.30pm, leave Peel Park 9.30pm)

On Saturday 10th, free spaces are available:
- Swinton (Pick up 6.45pm, leave Peel Park 9.30pm)
- Eccles (Pick up 6.45pm, leave Peel Park 9.30pm)

Travel

By Train
The nearest railway station is Salford Crescent which is a 6 minute walk away (0.3 miles). Salford Central  is an 8 minute walk (0.7 miles), Manchester Victoria is a 30 minute walk  (1.3 miles) and Deansgate is a 33 minute  walk  (1.5 miles).

By Bus
The nearest bus stops are Salford University, Salford Crescent station stop A or B.

By Bike
Greater Manchester has a publicly operated, self-service, 24/7 cycle hire scheme. There are bike hubs located at the University of Salford, Salford Museum & Art Gallery and the Working Class Movement Library, all close to Peel Park.

Pick up hubs are located across Manchester City Centre, Salford Quays , Langworthy and Salford Crescent (view  the full details of the scheme here). Many of these are located close to tram stops allowing for a combination of these transport modes.  All hires can be managed via the app (iPhone/Android).

By Scooter
Scooters can be used for travel around the city up to the boundary with Manchester council. The closest hub is on the corner of Oldfield Road and Chapel Street. A full map of scooter locations as well as all hires can be managed via the free Lime app (iPhone/Android).

By Tram
From Manchester: Exchange Square , Deansgate-Castlefield, St Peter’s Square tram stops are all a 25-30 min walk (1.3 miles -1.4 miles).

From Salford: Langworthy is a  33 minute walk (1.5 miles)  and Media City is 37 minute walk (1.7 miles)

By Car
We strongly encourage you to arrive by cycle or public transport and make the remaining way by foot. This event takes place very close to major transport hubs and these really are the quickest and most efficient ways to get around. If you have no other option:

The nearest car park to Chapel Street is  Irwell Place Car Park (41-42 Crescent, M5 4PE) which is an uncovered pay and display car park, and clearly signposted from the main road.

Accessible car parking is available at Salford Museum & Art Gallery for blue badge holders (free for three hours) including accessible and general parking bays. Parking at this location is limited, and not guaranteed.
