The world premiere of Salford Everywhere, a monumental living portrait of Salford and its people created by award-winning visual artist and filmmaker Matthew Rosier, his most ambitious project to date.
On 9th & 10th October video artworks featuring over 1500 Salfordians will be projected onto buildings in the city, including the iconic Salford Shopping Centre building in Pendleton. A major free event will take place over both evenings from 6-10pm at Peel Park where Rosier’s 45 minute video installation, shown live twice each night, will be projected at scale onto the University of Salford’s, Maxwell Building. The video installation will be accompanied by a live score celebrating the city’s rich musical heritage, featuring local choirs and brass bands, arranged by Michael Betteridge, with music direction by Salford-based composer and DJ, AFRODEUTSCHE.
Live shows will take place at: 7.30pm and 8.45pm each night (9th and 10th October)
Salford Shopping Centre in Pendleton will be illuminated simultaneously each evening (7-10pm) by the 1553 local contributors who feature in the project, silently projected at monumental scale, creating a powerful tribute to the people who make up Salford’s story.
From pigeon fanciers, NHS workers and builders to supermarket teams, school children, chess players, dementia support groups, food bank charity teams, local athletes and Royal Mail staff, Salford Everywhere captures the spirit of the city through the people who make it.
A Living Monument to the People of Salford
From The Other have developed the work with Matthew Rosier and a creative team that includes music direction by AFRODEUTSCHE, movement direction by Company Chameleon and videography by Izzy Pye.
Throughout 2026, the creative team have been meeting communities across Salford, inviting groups and individuals to be part of this ambitious public artwork. Over two busy weeks of filming, at locations as diverse as Lower Kersal Social Club, Grand Palais Swinton, Media City and Salford Lads Club, 1553 Salfordians were captured on camera. The faces in the final piece will represent over 150 community groups, including: community Rugby League club Cadishead Rhinos ARLFC, specialist college Chatsworth Futures, community health initiative Dancing with Dementia, Irlam & Cadishead Foodbank, workers from the Royal Mail, staff from St Mary's Church Ellenbrook and The Yemeni Community Association.
