Swinton Sounds

The Spirit of Sounds transported up the road to the town of Swinton.

“After hearing distant music and wandering over to the park, we found a joyous celebration of all things local

– Leah, local resident

“Had a brill time at #SwintonSounds this afternoon. Great music, great atmosphere and really social. Rain? What rain?

What happened in 2023?
A pop up weekender of events, created with the community of Swinton, that brought live music and performance to the precinct, park and pub!

A classical music retelling of a Fairy Tale favourite…steel pans with your shopping…and a teenage dream that was hard to beat, this was not your average Saturday afternoon in Swinton Square. And we started as we meant to go on. From rowdy queer folk in a tiny bar to west african rhythms in the park, we packed in some of Greater Manchester’s finest cross-genre musicians to a two-day party in the town.

We had a lot of fun developing the ideas and meeting some of the wonderful characters that make culture in Swinton tick, Sonia at Arts Let Loose, Clare & Scott from House of Hops, Tony, Stacey at Office Bar and Sarah from Salford Mad Pride.
